The Virginia Cable
Telecommunications Association (VCTA), with offices in Richmond, Virginia
is the trade association for the cable telecommunications industry in
Virginia. The Association was founded in 1966.
Association membership
is comprised of system members and associate members. System members
are cable systems operating in Virginia. There are presently forty-seven
system members serving over one and one half million Virginia homes
and businesses.
Associate members
number over one hundred and are individuals, firms, and corporations
engaged in providing goods and services used by cable operators.
The Association
is guided by a Board of Directors comprised of cable executives from
companies across all of Virginia, an Associate Director, and Alternate
Associate Director which determine policy administered by staff. The
President reports to the Board and is responsible for day to day management
of the association.
Through the years,
the Virginia Cable Telecommunications Association has informed members
of issues affecting them, represented its members before state and federal
regulatory agencies, the state legislature, and the United States Congress.
The Association serves as a clearinghouse for information to members
and non-members. Each year the Association sponsors the Virginia Show,
recognized as one of the top-rated cable trade shows in the nation.
VCTA's
Mission
The mission of the
Virginia Cable Telecommunications Association (VCTA) is to promote the
cable television and telecommunications services of member companies
in the Commonwealth of Virginia to the public, the business community
and state officials. This will be accomplished through coordinated public
relations and awareness efforts, adequate training, organized member
lobbying, timely and informational meetings and conventions and consolidated
efforts with local, state and national cable advocacy groups. The VCTA
will operate by, for and with its members and will be a storehouse and
source of member information.
